Governor of Sindh Pledges Support for Industrial Sector in Karachi

Karachi, The Governor of Sindh, Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori, has committed to revamping the bureaucratic system and addressing longstanding industrial issues during a recent visit to the SITE Association of Industry.

According to S.I.T.E Association of Industry, Governor Tessori emphasized the need for specialized expertise in government departments to better address the specific needs of the industrial sector. He proposed the inclusion of at least two experienced professionals in each department to advise ministers and secretaries, a suggestion that has reportedly begun to see implementation by the Prime Minister.

The Governor responded to concerns raised by the Senior Vice President of the SITE Association, Muhammad Hanif Tawakkal, offering full support and cooperation in resolving issues related to federal governance for industries in the SITE area. He outlined several initiatives taken under his stewardship to make Governor House more accessible and service-oriented, such as distributing rations, providing interest-free loans, and not utilizing government funds for these initiatives but relying instead on contributions from the business community and overseas Pakistanis.

Patron-in-Chief Zubair Motiwala highlighted the dire situation of local industries, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which have faced severe losses due to high gas tariffs, leading to shutdowns and increased unemployment. He also expressed concerns over the IMF's recommendations for Pakistan to increase imports, which he believes could further harm the local industry, exports, and the overall economy.

Additional points of discussion included the urgent need for infrastructure development in industrial areas, protection for SMEs, and the facilitation of business operations under challenging economic conditions. Concerns about high utility costs, law and order, and the scheduling of crucial meetings with national leaders to address these pressing issues were also raised.

The meeting concluded with a collective acknowledgment of the need for continuous dialogue and action to support the industrial backbone of Karachi and ensure the economic stability of the region.
