Karachi Stock Exchange Observes Significant Gains Across Major Indices

Karachi, (PPI Bot): The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) witnessed notable gains across major indices in the trading session of December 1, 2023. The KSE-30 index rose by 366.13 points to close at 20,554.58, while the KSE-100 index, a benchmark for market performance, surged by 1,159.98 points, ending the day at 61,691.25. Similarly, the KSE-All Share index increased by 721.10 points, closing at 41,045.38. The KMI-30 index experienced a significant rise of 2,530.38 points, finishing at 104,230.97. Other indices, including the BATi and OGTi, also saw upward movements, with net changes of 72.17 and 176.23 points respectively.

In terms of market turnover, the day ended with a substantial increase. The trading volume reached 531,334,211 shares compared to the previous session's 467,159,704 shares, marking a notable rise in market activity. The trading value for the session was reported at 21,558,949,708 PKR, up from the previous 18,752,350,587 PKR. The market capitalization also saw an increase, settling at 8,885,359,389,922 PKR compared to the previous session's 8,729,523,266,231 PKR.

Companies Reflecting Significant Turnover:

Among the companies, Maple Leaf Cement led the turnover chart with 43,072,746 shares traded, closing at 42.36 from its previous rate of 39.55. Pak Elektron followed with 39,797,114 shares, closing higher at 18.97. Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim, Fauji Cement, and Hum Network also saw significant turnovers, closing at 24.56, 18.86, and 7.69 respectively. WorldCall Telecom, D.G. Khan Cement, Air Link Communication, Dewan Cement, and K-Electric Ltd. were also among the top performers in terms of turnover.

Companies with Highest Increase/Decrease in Rates:

Rafhan Maize topped the list of companies with the highest rate increase, closing at 10,856.77, up by 756.77. Ismail Industries also witnessed a significant rise, closing at 1,337.06, an increase of 93.28. On the decline side, Unilever Foods saw the largest decrease, dropping by 1,000.00 to close at 21,500.00, followed by Siemens Pakistan with a decrease of 58.15, closing at 717.18.

Future Contracts:

In the future contracts segment, PAEL-DEC led with a turnover of 17,609,000 shares, closing at 19.27. MLCF-DEC, DGKC-DEC, FFBL-DEC, and AIRLINK-DECB also saw substantial turnovers, closing at 43.08, 80.03, 24.98, and 63.06 respectively.
