Karachi to Enhance Public Transport with 50 New Double-Decker Buses

Karachi: The Sindh government, spearheaded by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, has announced plans to introduce 50 new double-decker buses to Karachi's roads. This initiative, under the People’s Bus Service, aims to modernize the city's transport system and provide residents with more comfortable and efficient travel options. The move is part of a broader effort to meet the increasing demands of Karachi's daily commuters and reduce the burden on existing transit infrastructure.

According to Zameen.Com, the announcement came after a crucial meeting on Tuesday, which included Director Soheb Shafiq, People’s Bus Service Manager Operations Abdul Shakoor, and other high-ranking officials. Minister Memon instructed the Mass Transit Authority to fast-track the procurement of these buses. He underscored the significant impact that the double-deckers are expected to have on the urban transport landscape, stating that they would greatly enhance the commuting experience in Karachi.

“We are committed to transforming Karachi’s public transport. By providing double-decker buses, we aim to enhance the experience for citizens, making urban travel more efficient and accessible,” Memon remarked during the meeting. He further directed the relevant departments to prioritize the development of necessary infrastructure, including bus stations, to facilitate the seamless integration of the new buses into the existing network.

Once operational, the double-decker buses are anticipated to not only improve citywide connectivity but also provide a reliable and pleasant transportation option for Karachi's population. The initiative reflects the Sindh government's ongoing commitment to addressing the city's evolving mobility needs and boosting overall commuter satisfaction.
