Lahore Development Authority Initiates Construction of Signal-Free Corridors

Lahore, The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has begun constructing signal-free corridors through protected U-turns at various junctions across the city to improve traffic flow, as per a news source on December 1. This initiative is part of LDA's efforts to alleviate growing traffic congestion in Lahore.

According to Zameen.com, reportedly, concrete pillars have been installed at Qadir Topash Chowk and Y Junction, with plans to expand this project to six additional junctions. The primary aim is to establish a signal-free network, starting from Jinnah Hospital to Barkat Market. As part of this project, the traffic signal at Barkat Market has been removed and replaced with a U-turn situated two hundred meters away.

The route from Jinnah Hospital to Barkat Market is just the beginning, as similar changes are observed on Abdul Sattar Edhi Road, where four traffic signals have been replaced by protected U-turns. These modifications are expected to streamline traffic and enhance efficiency on major city roads.

Barriers have also been strategically placed at key locations such as Shimla Hill, Khokar Chowk, Abdul Haq Road, and Nishtar Chowk. The reasons behind these installations include traffic management and potentially security measures.

LDA's initiative reflects a proactive approach to address traffic woes in Lahore, ensuring smoother and faster commutes for residents.
