LDA Plans Upgrades for Lahore’s Katchi Abadis to Enhance Living Conditions

Lahore, The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) is set to launch development initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and amenities in the city's informal settlements, known as Katchi Abadis. The decision follows a directive from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, emphasizing sustainable community development.

According to Zameen.Com, LDA Director General Tahir Farooq chaired a recent meeting to evaluate the performance of the Directorate of Katchi Abadis, where the need for enhanced community facilities was a focal point. The meeting outlined significant enhancements including street lighting, road repairs, and the development of parks to improve the quality of life for residents of these communities.

Additional DG Katchi Abadis, Akbar Naqai, provided insights into the current challenges faced by the communities, prompting Farooq to order a swift compilation of a detailed report on these issues. Farooq also committed to phased interventions based on the findings of the upcoming report, aiming for gradual and sustainable improvements across the Katchi Abadis.

This initiative marks a significant step towards integrating Lahore's informal settlements into the broader urban fabric, aligning with broader goals for urban sustainability and improved living standards for all city residents.
