Pakistan and China Strengthen Ties with New Agreements on Development and Technology

Islamabad, Pakistan and China have deepened their bilateral relations with the signing of four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) that encompass flood rehabilitation, information and communication technologies, and development efforts. These agreements were signed during a high-profile meeting between Pakistani officials and a Chinese delegation led by Luo Zhaohui from the Chinese International Development Cooperation Agency.

According to Zameen.Com, the signing event, attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other notable figures, including China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, marks a significant step in cooperation between the two nations. The MoUs address critical areas such as the application of Juncao technology to combat soil erosion and desertification, with additional talks on a joint development plan spanning 2024 to 2028.

These developments follow the catastrophic floods in 2022 that resulted in severe economic and human losses for Pakistan. Prime Minister Sharif praised China for its continued support during these challenging times, noting the strategic importance of the new agreements in bolstering Pakistan’s recovery and future resilience.
