World Bank Briefed on Pakistan’s Digitized Tax Initiatives by FBR

Islamabad, The Vice President of the World Bank, Martin Raiser, visited the headquarters of Pakistan's Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Wednesday to receive a briefing on the nation's new digitalized tax policy initiatives.

According to Zameen.Com, the briefing was led by Amjed Zubair Tiwana, who detailed several key components of the FBR's strategy. This includes the Pakistan Raises Revenue Project, which aims at the harmonization of sales tax, the implementation of the Track and Trace System to monitor goods, and efforts to enhance the information and communications technology (ICT) capacities at the FBR.

The visit by the World Bank's Vice President underscores the international interest in Pakistan's tax reform efforts and its move towards digitalization to improve tax collection and compliance. This engagement is part of a broader cooperation between Pakistan and international financial institutions to strengthen economic governance in the country.
