World Bank to Invest $135 Million in Sindh Livestock and Aquaculture Development

Karachi, The World Bank has committed to fund a substantial $135 million for the Sindh Livestock and Aquaculture Development Project, aimed at boosting these sectors in the region over the next five years.

According to Zameen.Com, the total estimated cost for this project is PKR 38,386 million. The World Bank will provide the majority of the funding, amounting to PKR 37,800 million (approximately $135 million), while the Government of Sindh will contribute an additional $2 million. Farmers participating in the project will also have a collective financial involvement of $10 million. The project, which spans from July 2024 to December 2029, has been approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) and is awaiting final approval from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).

The initiative aims to enhance the competitiveness, inclusivity, climate resilience, and sustainability of the livestock and aquaculture sectors in Sindh, promising significant improvements to local economies and the livelihoods of those involved in these industries.
