KMC Identifies Over 200 Unsafe Buildings in Karachi

Karachi, The Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) has issued a warning about the safety of more than 200 buildings located on I.I Chundrigar Road, Khalid Bin Waleed Road, and Sharea Faisal. These structures, As per reports, were constructed with substandard materials and lack critical safety features, posing a significant risk to occupants and visitors.

According to Zameen.Com, the highlighted buildings were found to be deficient in essential safety measures such as fire-fighting systems and emergency exits, indicating a failure in adhering to necessary planning and construction standards. The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), which is responsible for approving building plans and issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs), reportedly sanctioned these structures without proper oversight or consultation with the KMC.

The revelation of these inadequacies has prompted calls for immediate action against the illegal constructions and the officials who issued the NOCs without conducting thorough inspections. The situation underscores a critical oversight in Karachi's urban development and regulatory enforcement, necessitating urgent measures to address these safety concerns and prevent potential hazards.
