KSE-100 Closes with Significant Loss Amid Bearish Trend

Karachi: The KSE-100 index faced a challenging trading session, experiencing a substantial decline as it closed with a loss of 1,286 points, settling at 163,304. The index reached an intraday low of 1,548 points, reflecting persistent selling pressure throughout the session.

Investor activity showed signs of weakening, with trading volumes decreasing by 12% compared to the previous session. Despite the decline, the KSE-100 index remained 28.1% above the lower Bollinger Band, indicating a degree of resilience within the market. However, the bands themselves are currently 18.54% narrower than usual.

The market's recent performance has been predominantly bearish, as evidenced by the formation of 3 positive candles and 7 negative candles over the last 10 sessions. This pattern underscores the prevailing negative sentiment among investors.

Despite the recent volatility, the benchmark index continues to trade 25.3% above its 200-period moving average, suggesting that a broader upward trend may still be in play.
