Karachi: Mian Zahid Hussain, a prominent figure in Pakistan's business landscape, has issued a statement strongly condemning the recent terrorist attacks that struck the Wana Cadet College in South Waziristan and a location near the District Judicial Complex in Islamabad. As the President of the Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum and Chairman of several key business groups, Hussain emphasized the collective stance of the nation and business community against terrorism.
In his remarks, Hussain highlighted the critical link between peace and economic growth. He noted that acts of terrorism erode investor confidence, impede business development, and render Pakistan a less attractive destination for investment, ultimately obstructing the country's path to prosperity.
Hussain underscored the necessity for immediate and determined action to combat terrorism. He assured full support to the government and security forces in implementing any measures required to restore stability and ensure lasting peace in the region.
Advocating for a comprehensive approach, Hussain called for a strategy that transcends reactive measures. He urged for a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, emphasizing the importance of intensifying counter-terrorism efforts through advanced intelligence operations aimed at dismantling terror networks and their financial and logistical support systems nationwide.
With the cross-border nature of these threats in mind, Hussain stressed the importance of enhancing border management and control. He urged Pakistan to utilize diplomatic and security channels to press Afghanistan to prevent the use of its territory for launching attacks backed by India against Pakistan.
In the wake of these attacks, Hussain expressed condolences for the loss of lives, including those of security personnel and civilians, and wished for the swift recovery of the injured. He called for the nation to move forward with a spirit of 'Azm-e-Istehkam'—a steadfast resolve and enduring commitment—to eradicate terrorism. The business community, he affirmed, stands ready to support the government and security forces until the threat is fully eliminated.
