PTCL Group Unveils Android-Powered Shoq TV Box at Mobile World Congress

Islamabad, In a significant development for Pakistan's entertainment and technology sectors, the PTCL Group announced the launch of the Shoq TV Set-top Box, powered by Android TV, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, Spain. This innovative device aims to transform television viewing in Pakistan by integrating Google apps, including the Play Store, and offering a user-friendly interface with captivating graphics. The announcement was made by Hatem Bamatraf, President and Group CEO of PTCL and Ufone 4G, alongside Karen Teo, VP Android Partnerships APAC at Google.

According to Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, the Shoq TV Box is designed to provide the ultimate entertainment experience, featuring pre-installed apps like YouTube and Netflix for an immersive big-screen experience. The set-top box enables users to seamlessly navigate between TV and compatible Android apps, enhancing leisure time with a wide variety of content and entertainment options.

Hatem Bamatraf expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Google, highlighting the PTCL Group's commitment to improving content quality and entertainment choices for customers in Pakistan. Karen Teo of Google also remarked on the partnership's potential to expand the Android TV platform in Pakistan, offering access to a broad TV apps ecosystem and elevating user experiences.

The Shoq TV Box will offer access to over two hundred television channels, including a diverse range of Full HD channels, underscoring PTCL Group's focus on delivering high-quality news and entertainment content.
