Lahore, In a significant move aimed at propelling the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Sindh province, the Government of Sindh is amplifying its collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA). This decision seeks to foster employment opportunities and combat poverty in the region.
According to a news release by Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), Mr. Abdul Rasheed Solangi, Secretary Industry and Commerce, Government of Sindh, convened a meeting with SMEDA experts at the SMEDA head office today. The meeting, centered on fortifying the prospects of SME promotion in the province, saw attendance from key figures including Dr. Sarwat Faheem, Managing Director Sindh Small Industries Corporation, and Mr. Asim Javaid Hashmi, Managing Director Punjab Small Industries Corporation. Leading the SMEDA contingent was Mr. Socrat Aman Rana, General Manager Central Support.
The Secretary of Sindh's Industries Department conveyed the provincial government's eagerness to enhance employment avenues and alleviate poverty via SME growth. Extending gratitude for SMEDA's assistance, he highlighted that numerous Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) projects were enriching multiple SME sectors across the province through state-of-the-art technology and expertise. He further guaranteed comprehensive support for the inception of the SME facilitation center in Karachi, a recent initiative by SMEDA.
Commencing the meeting, Mr. Socrat Aman Rana, General Manager of SMEDA, greeted the participants and briefed them about SMEDA's vast range of services, projects, and nationwide programs aimed at SME enhancement. Emphasizing SMEDA's commitment since its establishment, he shed light on its focus on uniform SME growth across all Pakistani provinces. Moreover, he credited the Cluster-based approach for its efficacy in bolstering existing SMEs throughout various national regions.
