Dawlance and UNIDO Launch Safety Training for R-32 Refrigerant in Pakistan

Karachi, Dawlance, in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Pakistan's Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, has launched a comprehensive training program focused on safe handling practices for the HFC R-32 refrigerant and related equipment. The initiative is part of Pakistan's commitment to phase out hydrochlorofluorocarbons under the HCFC Phase-out Management Plan, Stage-II.

According to Dawlance, the training sessions were conducted in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Islamabad, engaging over 850 participants from across the country. These included dealer installers, authorized workshops, and service branch networks. The program covered a variety of essential topics such as compressor changing, application of flammable refrigerants, system design differences, and best practices in leak detection and recovery.

The move to switch from R-410A to the less harmful R-32 refrigerant is part of Dawlance’s strategy to implement global best practices and adhere to environmental sustainability. Umar Ahsan Khan, the CEO of Dawlance, emphasized the company's commitment to community safety and environmental protection, highlighting the installation of modern R-32 service equipment across Dawlance service centers to prevent pollution and ozone layer depletion.

The training also emphasized the importance of careful maintenance practices, proper tool usage, and adherence to safety standards for handling and transporting refrigerant cylinders, aiming to enhance the skills of technical personnel in maintaining system integrity and ensuring safe operations.
