HBL Launches Women’s Tekken Tournament in Lahore to Empower Female Gamers

Lahore, Habib Bank Limited (HBL) has announced the launch of a women-only Tekken 8 tournament, aimed at empowering female gamers in Lahore and promoting inclusivity in the Esports industry. The event, scheduled for April 20, 2024, is part of HBL's 'Aur Khelo' initiative and will be held under the sponsorship of IGN and Raptr.

According to Habib Bank Limited, the Tekken tournament is a strategic move to expand the bank's Konnect service into the burgeoning field of Esports, specifically targeting the significant yet underrepresented segment of women gamers in Pakistan. Ali Habib, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at HBL, highlighted the growing participation of women in gaming, noting that women constitute 23% of Pakistan's 37 million gamers. With this initiative, HBL aims to challenge the traditional perceptions of gaming as a male-dominated field and foster a more inclusive gaming community.

The tournament represents a significant step towards leveling the playing field for women in Esports, a domain that has seen exponential growth globally and is now beginning to take root in Pakistan. HBL's commitment to this cause is seen as part of a broader effort to connect with the country's youth and tap into emerging trends that resonate with younger demographics.
