RDA Forms Task Force to Combat Illegal Housing Schemes in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi, The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is stepping up efforts to address the issue of illegal housing schemes with the creation of a new task force, as announced by the Director General, Kinza Murtaza, during a recent meeting.

According to Zameen.Com, Director General Murtaza emphasized the critical need for strict adherence to legal standards to tackle the rise of unauthorized housing developments. She outlined several measures, including the formation of a dedicated redressal committee designed to address citizen grievances and ensure rapid response to infractions.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Director of MP and TE and the Deputy Director of Planning among other officials, the RDA's planning wing was directed to intensify efforts to curb the spread of illegal housing projects. These projects have reportedly been misleading the public, causing significant concern.

The RDA has also launched a public awareness campaign advising citizens to avoid transactions with unapproved schemes. The authority's website now includes resources to help verify the legitimacy of housing schemes. Director General Murtaza mandated the immediate cessation of all development activities, promotional campaigns, and events related to these illicit ventures, with violators warned of legal actions under the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Scheme Rules 2021.

This initiative reaffirms RDA’s commitment to maintaining regulatory standards and protecting public interests in the housing sector.
