Karachi: Allied Bank Ltd. (ABL) conducted an analyst briefing today to discuss its financial performance for the first nine months of the calendar year 2026, as well as its future outlook. The bank reported a notable decrease in its standalone net profit after tax, which fell by 11% year-over-year to PkR23.1 billion, primarily due to higher non-markup expenses.
According to AKD Securities Limited, ABL's net mark-up income saw a modest increase of 2% year-over-year, reaching PkR80 billion. This growth was largely attributed to an expansion in the bank's asset base. Interest income and expenses both rose during this period, by 18% and 26% year-over-year, respectively. Additionally, non-markup income grew by 9% year-over-year to PkR23 billion, driven mainly by increases in fee and foreign exchange income.
The bank also experienced a 13% year-over-year increase in non-markup expenses, reaching PkR56 billion for the first nine months of the year. This rise was largely due to increased salaries and marketing costs associated with home remittances, as reported by the management. Consequently, the cost-to-income ratio increased from 48% to 53% compared to the same period last year.
