Islamabad: Bank Alfalah Limited, a prominent commercial bank in Pakistan, has entered into a strategic partnership with UnionPay International to launch the first-ever PayPak co-badge platinum debit cards in the country. The new cards aim to provide customers with extensive international privileges and access through UnionPay’s global payment network, spanning 183 countries and regions.
According to Bank Alfalah, the collaboration was formalized at a signing ceremony in Istanbul, Turkey, where Atif Bajwa, President and CEO of Bank Alfalah, and James Yang, General Manager of UnionPay International, inked the agreement. The initiative aligns with the State Bank of Pakistan’s encouragement for banks to introduce co-badge cards, expanding financial access and convenience for consumers across Pakistan.
The UPI/PayPak co-badge Platinum Debit Card is designed to offer seamless international transaction capabilities, setting a new standard in the industry for financial products. The card integrates local and international payment features, promoting greater financial liberty and convenience for its users. This strategic move is part of Bank Alfalah’s ongoing efforts to enhance its service offerings and affirm its role as a leader in the financial services sector.
