Bank Alfalah Announces Partnership with Cancer Foundation Hospital to Aid Breast Cancer Patients

Karachi: In a significant move towards healthcare support, Bank Alfalah has teamed up with Cancer Foundation Hospital to provide essential treatment for women suffering from breast cancer. This partnership is part of a broader initiative to combat the disease which continues to be a major public health issue in Pakistan.

According to Bank Alfalah, the collaboration involves a PKR 10.75 million contribution made jointly with Roche Pakistan. This funding will cover medication expenses and offer free treatment to five women, ensuring they receive comprehensive care amid their battle with breast cancer. Pakistan reports some of the highest breast cancer rates in Asia, with an annual incidence of about 90,000 new cases and 40,000 deaths.

Mehreen Ahmed, Group Head of Retail Banking at Bank Alfalah, expressed the organization’s commitment to supporting health initiatives beyond their business scope. “Breast cancer poses a significant health challenge, and our goal is to ensure that financial hurdles do not stop women from accessing necessary treatments,” Ahmed stated.

In addition to direct support, Bank Alfalah has initiated Pinktober awareness sessions across major Pakistani cities. These sessions, held in collaboration with notable entities such as Shaukat Khanum, Chughtai Lab, and the Samina Alvi Foundation, aim to educate women on the importance of early detection and prevention. The campaign’s first session was hosted at Bank Alfalah’s headquarters in Karachi, featuring discussions led by medical experts and representatives from the Samina Alvi Foundation.
