Bank Alfalah Collaborates with Cancer Foundation Hospital to Provide Breast Cancer Treatment

Karachi: In a significant partnership aimed at combating breast cancer, Bank Alfalah has joined forces with Cancer Foundation Hospital to fund treatment for women facing this formidable disease. This collaboration includes a substantial contribution from Bank Alfalah and Roche Pakistan totaling PKR 10.75 million, which will cover medication expenses and provide free-of-cost treatment for five patients.

According to Bank Alfalah, breast cancer remains a pressing public health issue in Pakistan, home to one of Asia’s highest rates of the disease. Annually, the country records about 90,000 new cases and 40,000 deaths. Despite the high incidence rate, only a quarter to a third of women are aware of the crucial early detection methods like self-examinations and mammography. Bank Alfalah’s initiative not only provides financial assistance but also focuses on increasing awareness and education about breast cancer.

Mehreen Ahmed, Group Head of Retail Banking at Bank Alfalah, emphasized the bank’s role in addressing significant health challenges beyond its business scope. “Breast cancer is a major health challenge, and through our partnership with Cancer Foundation Hospital, we aim to provide tangible support to women battling cancer. Our commitment extends to ensuring that financial constraints never become a barrier to receiving life-saving treatment,” she stated.

Furthermore, Bank Alfalah has initiated a series of Pinktober awareness sessions in major cities, in collaboration with Shaukat Khanum, Chughtai Lab, and the Samina Alvi Foundation, to educate women about early detection and prevention. The inaugural session was held at Bank Alfalah’s head office in Karachi, featuring medical experts and representatives from the Samina Alvi Foundation.
