Bank Alfalah Partners with BARD Foundation to Develop Squash Complex in Pakistan

Islamabad: Bank Alfalah has partnered with BARD Foundation to support the construction of the BARD Squash Complex, a project intended to revitalize and advance squash in Pakistan by fostering youth development and establishing a facility that can nurture future champions at both national and international levels.

According to Bank Alfalah, the collaboration involves a sponsorship support of PKR 50 million, plus applicable taxes, for the development of the complex. The facility aims to serve as a modern sporting hub, offering tournaments, structured training programs, and community engagement initiatives to expand access to the sport and enhance Pakistan's squash ecosystem. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to promote sports development, empower young athletes, and create pathways for sporting excellence.

Atif Bajwa, President and CEO of Bank Alfalah, emphasized the importance of private sector involvement in sports development, referencing successful global models. He expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with BARD Foundation and its potential to contribute to the growth of squash and athlete development in Pakistan.

Historically, Pakistan has been a powerhouse in the world of squash, producing several celebrated champions. The development of dedicated training infrastructure is seen as a priority in rebuilding this legacy. The BARD Squash Complex aims to meet this need by offering modern facilities, competitive opportunities, and professional coaching environments.

As part of the deal, Bank Alfalah will obtain exclusive naming rights for the All-Glass Championship Court at the facility, alongside prominent branding and signage. The bank's logo will be displayed on court surfaces and tournament materials, with broadcast coverage where applicable. Additional perks include VIP lifetime memberships, priority booking access for employees, and recognition in launch events and promotional campaigns.

BARD Foundation President Abdul Razak Dawood highlighted the necessity of collaboration between private, public, and nonprofit sectors for the development of sports in Pakistan. He noted that such partnerships are crucial in creating opportunities for emerging talent and fostering sporting excellence.

The MoU is effective from the signing date, with both parties committing to achieving the outlined objectives and advancing squash in Pakistan through continued engagement and investment.
