Karachi: Bank Alfalah Ltd. has reported a significant rise in its net profit after tax (NPAT) for the third quarter of the calendar year 2026, reaching PkR9.3 billion. This represents a 51% increase compared to the same period last year, although it marks a 9% decrease from the previous quarter. The bank's performance exceeded expectations largely due to higher than anticipated Fee and Foreign Exchange income.
According to AKD Securities Limited, Bank Alfalah announced an interim cash payout of PkR1.5 per share, aligning with forecasts, and bringing the total payout for the first nine months of 2026 to PkR4.5 per share. The bank's net interest income (NII) for the quarter stood at PkR35.9 billion, showing an 8% increase year-on-year but a 1% decrease quarter-on-quarter. The annual growth in NII is attributed to an increase in earning assets, while the quarterly decline is mainly due to a reduction in investments.
Investments by the bank increased by 6% year-on-year to PkR1.7 trillion as of September 2026, despite a 26% decline from the previous quarter. This annual growth was supported by higher deposits, which rose by 21% year-on-year but fell by 2% quarter-on-quarter to PkR2.6 trillion. Meanwhile, borrowings saw a substantial decrease, dropping by 61% year-on-year and 71% quarter-on-quarter to PkR243 billion.
