Islamabad: Bank Alfalah, in collaboration with the Association for Mothers and Newborns (AMAN), Zindagi Trust, and Kiran Foundation, has launched the School-Based Family Learning Initiative aimed at enhancing health and financial literacy among mothers, caregivers, and students in Karachi and Shangla. The program will run for 12 months, utilizing schools as a platform to deliver essential education to families.

According to Bank Alfalah, the initiative commenced at Zindagi Trust’s SMB Fatima Jinnah School in Karachi and will be implemented in three Zindagi Trust schools and two Kiran Foundation schools. The program includes training for teachers to conduct health-literacy sessions with mothers and caregivers, using AMAN’s digital health-literacy platform, Bakhabar Noujawan, to provide content on vital health topics.

Bank Alfalah will collaborate with AMAN to incorporate financial-literacy content into the Bakhabar Noujawan platform, equipping mothers and caregivers with the knowledge necessary to make informed financial decisions.

Key figures at the launch included Dr. Azra Ahsan, Secretary General of AMAN, Shehzad Roy, Founder of Zindagi Trust, Sabina Khatri, Chairperson of Kiran Foundation, and Madiha Javed Qureshi, Head of Corporate Communication at Bank Alfalah. Dr. Raj Kumar, EPI Programme Director in Sindh, emphasized the need for vaccination and collaboration between the Expanded Programme on Immunization and the Education Department to enhance health awareness.

The initiative seeks to establish a model for school-based learning to reach families, with the outcomes documented to explore potential implementation in other educational settings.
