Breathe In, Scroll Out: TikTok Launches Guided Meditation Feature to Promote Mental Well-Being

Karachi: In an effort to support the mental well-being of its global community, TikTok has introduced a new in-app guided meditation feature. The tool aims to make mindfulness practices more accessible to users of all ages, offering options in both Urdu and English. Alongside this feature, TikTok has announced a $2.3 million global mental health education fund to support trusted organizations worldwide.

The new meditation feature is integrated with TikTok's existing Sleep Hours function, designed to encourage users to relax with calming, guided exercises. The feature is automatically enabled for users under 18 after 10 p.m., with a prompt replacing their usual "For You" feed to reinforce healthy screen time habits. Adult users can manually activate this feature through their Screen Time settings.

Complementing these in-app developments, TikTok's $2.3 million donation in ad credits will support mental health organizations across 22 countries. The funding aims to help these groups create engaging and credible content to reach a wider audience. This initiative is part of TikTok's ongoing commitment to digital wellness and positive impact through technology and community engagement.

Asma Anjum, Trust and Safety, Regional Lead for South Asia at TikTok, noted the shifting conversations around mental health in the region. The company is committed to investing in tools and public awareness initiatives to drive positive change and promote well-being.

These initiatives underline TikTok's broader commitment to digital wellness with added educational feeds, safety tools, and parental controls. The platform strives to empower and uplift communities through meaningful change, blending technology, community engagement, and nonprofit collaboration.
