KARACHI: President of the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI), Faisal Moez Khan, emphasized the necessity for the Businessmen Group (BMG) to secure an overwhelming majority in the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) elections to advocate effectively for Karachi's progress.

According to North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry, Khan underscored BMG's historical support for NKATI and its effective role in addressing the association's challenges. He pointed out that more than 1,100 traders and industrialists from North Karachi are expected to vote in favor of BMG in the upcoming elections. The remarks were made during a luncheon event organized for BMG leaders and candidates, including Chairman Zubair Motiwala and others.

Motiwala reflected on the legacy of BMG's founder, Siraj Qasim Teli, whose mission to serve the business community continues to guide the group. He noted BMG's longstanding commitment to resolving business community issues, highlighting its role during the Gul Plaza and Bolton Market crises when traders preferred BMG’s intervention over relying on the Sindh government.

Furthermore, Motiwala announced that BMG plans to focus exclusively on Karachi’s development for six months starting in October, aiming to persuade the Sindh government and the Mayor to initiate substantial development projects similar to those in Lahore.

Other members, including presidential candidate Talat Mahmood and Tariq Yousuf, reiterated BMG's dedication to providing a robust platform for industrialists and traders. They advocated for representation in legislative bodies to better serve Karachi's business community. Additionally, the group highlighted recent developments such as the establishment of a PRAL office in Karachi to expedite issue resolution.

Support for BMG was echoed by other associations and groups, including the Sweet, Nimco and Bakers Associations, and the United Business Group, which pledged their backing in the elections.
