Islamabad: Careem has rolled out its innovative 'Flexi' car type in Karachi, a move that allows customers and their ride-hailing drivers, referred to as Captains, to negotiate and select their own fares. This introduction follows the service's successful implementation in cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan, where it was well-received by both users and drivers.
According to Careem, the Flexi Rides feature enables customers to see a suggested fare at the booking stage which they can adjust up or down. The bid is then sent to multiple Captains, who can either accept it or propose a counteroffer. Once an agreement is reached on the price, the ride commences. The service includes various options such as Flexi GO, Flexi GO Mini, Flexi Bikes, and Flexi Riksha, with the GO Premium category continuing to operate under the standard variable fare model.
Imran Saleem, General Manager of Ride Hailing at Careem Pakistan, emphasized that the Flexi Ride was designed to provide customers with the flexibility to set their own fares, enhancing the overall user and Captain experience while maintaining high safety standards. He noted that the feature has positively impacted Captains' earnings and has added flexibility to their work schedules.
