LAHORE: In a significant move to combat the escalating smog crisis in Lahore, the Central Business District (CBD) Punjab has temporarily halted all construction activities across its projects. This decision follows directives from the Lahore High Court and the Punjab government, aimed at improving air quality and safeguarding public health.

According to Zameen.Com, CBD Punjab Chief Executive Officer Imran Amin stressed the authority's commitment to addressing environmental challenges. "As an environmentally conscious authority, we fully support the Punjab government's robust measures to combat smog. Halting construction is a necessary step to reduce pollution and foster a healthier environment for Lahore's residents," he stated.

The temporary suspension is part of CBD Punjab's broader dedication to sustainable urban development. In addition to halting construction, the authority has initiated a plantation drive to increase Lahore's green cover and is encouraging citizens, businesses, and organizations to adopt environmentally responsible practices. These include reducing vehicle use, opting for eco-friendly construction methods, and avoiding waste burning.

Despite the construction halt, CBD Punjab's key projects continue to progress. The Walton Road upgradation has completed asphalt work, and the Major Ishaq Shaheed Flyover is set to open for traffic soon. These initiatives reflect the authority's dual commitment to infrastructure development and environmental responsibility.
