Islamabad, The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has unveiled a significant environmental initiative aimed at revitalizing the Margalla Hills landscape. With an allocated budget of PKR 2 billion, the project endeavors to plant 10 million trees across the 39,000-acre national park, enhancing biodiversity and addressing the pressing challenges of climate change and environmental degradation.

According to Zameen.Com, the project titled 'Enhancing Biodiversity and Green Cover by Managing Natural Resources, Maintenance, and Rehabilitation of Margalla Hills National Park Landscape' is set for proposal in the next fiscal year's funding allocations. This comprehensive five-year plan focuses on augmenting the region's flora and fauna, curbing the adverse effects of climate change, and tackling issues such as reduced greenery and water runoff.

Strategic measures outlined for the project include the cultivation of native plant species, employment opportunities in forest protection, and the construction of check dams and water ponds to sustain the ecosystem. CDA's leadership, including Director General Environment Qaiser Khattak, Member Environment Shahzad Khalil, and Chairman Anwarul Haq, has expressed firm support for the initiative, recognizing its potential to significantly enhance the environmental and aesthetic value of Islamabad's Margalla Hills.
