Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday launched significant infrastructure initiatives in Lahore, including the Controlled Access Corridor Road Package-II and the expansion of Ravi Bridge, aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and infrastructure.

According to Zameen.Com, the projects inaugurated by CM Maryam also involve the remodelling of the Babu Sabu Interchange. She directed the expansion of the service lane along the Controlled Access Corridor to increase local accessibility and also participated in a tree-planting ceremony as part of the inauguration events.

Officials from the Lahore Development Authority, including DG Tahir Farooq and Chief Engineer Israr Saeed, provided updates on the progress of the initiatives. Key features of the Controlled Access Corridor from Niazi Interchange to Saggian and Saggian to Babu Sabu Interchange were discussed. Enhancements include service lanes and both vehicular and pedestrian subways to improve the area’s connectivity.

A previously encroached area of 16 kanals and 6 marlas at Babu Sabu Chowk has been converted into a green belt and park following an investment exceeding PKR 1.5 billion. The expansion of the Ravi Bridge, now a 540-meter long four-lane structure, will serve local communities including Shahdara, Kot Abdul Malik, and Sheikhupura, significantly benefiting regional traffic flow and connectivity.

The event also saw attendance from key government figures such as Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, MPA Sania Ashiq, and Vice Chairman of LDA Mian Marghub Ahmed, highlighting the government’s dedication to infrastructural development in the region.
