Dera Ghazi Khan: The ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ housing initiative has commenced in Dera Ghazi Khan, with over 15,000 applications already received for interest-free home loans. This program aims to facilitate homeownership for both rural and urban populations through substantial government subsidies and accessible repayment terms.
According to Zameen.Com, the first phase of loan disbursements has begun, with 657 applicants from Gujranwala already selected to receive funding. Over the total course of the program, 2,628 individuals from this region are expected to benefit, with plans to extend the initiative across various other regions, targeting major urban centers.
Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, who announced the initiative, outlined the key details of the scheme during a ceremony in Dera Ghazi Khan. It offers loans of up to PKR 15 lakh, with a repayment period of seven years at zero interest. Monthly installments are set at PKR 14,000. The scheme also specifies different provisions for rural and urban areas, including the construction of 4-storey flats on government land and houses ranging from 3 to 5 marlas in private schemes, with up to PKR 10 lakh subsidized by the government per house in private projects.
Director General Housing, Saif Anwar, highlighted the scheme’s dedication to making housing more affordable and the repayment process manageable for beneficiaries. The plan includes the construction of over 3,000 housing units in each district of five major cities—Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sargodha, and Rawalpindi—with a special focus on building 5,000 houses near Raiwind Road in Lahore during the first phase.
