Descon Engineering Awarded Major Reformer Works for Oman Methanol Turnaround 2025

Muscat: Descon Engineering – Industrial Services Oman has secured a significant contract to handle the Reformer works package for the Oman Methanol Turnaround scheduled for 2025. This project marks the largest such undertaking by Descon under the direction of Schmidt + Clemens (S+C) to date, signaling a major expansion in their ongoing partnership.

According to Descon Oxychem Limited, the awarded package includes comprehensive work such as the replacement of catalyst tubes, inlet and outlet pigtails, and header T-cones, as well as the removal and installation of air ducts, hangers, and burners. These efforts will involve extensive mechanical and scaffolding work. Descon’s repeated selection for such critical projects follows its proven success in similar reformer works in 2019 and 2022, showcasing its capability to handle complex tasks alongside OEM partners.

This new project is expected to not only reaffirm Descon’s strong position in the Oman Turnaround segment but also enhance its partnership with S+C, providing opportunities to extend its expertise to other clients within the region.
