Karachi: Engro Fertilizers has introduced “UgAi,” the first integrated agricultural e-commerce platform in Pakistan, designed to enable farmers to directly purchase fertilizers at official rates. The app, which was launched initially in Sindh, aims to expand nationwide soon, offering a streamlined solution for modern agricultural practices.
According to Engro Fertilizer Limited, the UgAi app facilitates the direct delivery of fertilizers from the company’s warehouses to farmers, customized to the specific requirements of their farms. This new system promises consistent availability, reliable quality, and convenient delivery of fertilizers. Furthermore, UgAi incorporates advanced technologies such as drone operations and satellite imagery to enhance crop monitoring, reduce costs, and boost yields.
The launch event was attended by notable figures including Sardar Mohammad Bux Khan Mahar, the Minister for Agriculture in Sindh, and Rafique Ahmed Buriro, the Secretary to the Government of Sindh’s Agriculture, Supply and Prices Department. Both officials praised the initiative for its potential to tackle common challenges in the agricultural sector, such as artificial shortages and price distortions.
Ali Rathore, CEO of Engro Fertilizers, highlighted the company’s commitment to aligning with government efforts to improve the agricultural sector and ensure food security in Pakistan. Rathore emphasized that UgAi is part of Engro’s ongoing efforts to introduce innovations that benefit the farming community by providing comprehensive data on crop health and soil conditions, thereby enabling farmers to make better-informed decisions and maximize their crop yields.
