FBR Launches Reward Program for Reporting Unverified Retail Invoices

Islamabad: In a bid to enhance tax compliance, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced a new incentive program encouraging customers to report unverified invoices from Tier-1 retailers. This initiative is designed to tackle discrepancies in the retail sector and boost transparency across integrated sales platforms.

According to Zameen.Com, the FBR’s latest measure targets customers who encounter unverified invoices issued by Tier-1 retailers that are integrated into the national tax system. Participants in this program, which is regulated under SRO 1513(I)/2024, can report discrepancies through the FBR’s designated mobile app or via a dedicated WhatsApp number. Successful reports that meet all required criteria, including submission of personal identification and a GPS-tagged image of the retailer’s location, are eligible for entry into a prize draw.

Eligibility hinges on providing a digital payment proof, without which customers cannot claim rewards. The verification process involves the Commissioner of Inland Revenue, who will validate the reports through the IRIS system and take necessary actions as per the Sales Tax Act. Delays in prize distribution due to inaccuracies or incomplete submissions will be the responsibility of the reporting customer, underscoring the importance of thorough documentation.
