FBR Releases New Tax Return Forms for 2024, Dismisses High-Ranking Officials

Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched new tax return forms for the 2024 tax year and dismissed several high-ranking officials following a directive from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to Zameen.Com, the FBR has introduced tax forms for salaried individuals, associations of persons, companies, and business individuals. These forms are available electronically, enacted under SRO949 of 2024, which also includes modifications to the current income tax regulations. Additionally, manual tax return forms have been released, as per SRO0950 of 2024. This update comes shortly after the dismissal of 27 high-ranking officials on July 4, including 16 from the Inland Revenue Services and 11 from the Customs group. These actions were taken based on intelligence reports suggesting misconduct.

Among those dismissed were prominent figures such as Dr. Akhtar Hussain, Customs Collector in Islamabad, and Muhammad Adnan Akram, Director of Transit Trade in Lahore. Other notable officials include Irum Maqbool Aamir, Naveed Iqbal, Ahsan Khan, Raza Khan, Amreen Tarar, Aamir Rasheed, Zahoor Ahmed, Qazi Afzal, Naseer Janjua, Muhammad Abid, Humera Maryam, and Naved Akhtar.
