NIZAMPUR: Fauji Cement Company Limited (FCCL) has received board approval to install Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and solar power setups at its Nizampur and Jhang Bahtar plants. The project will involve the installation of BESS with a capacity of 25MWh each and solar power setups of 5MW each, aiming for commercial commissioning within 10 months.

According to AKD Securities Limited, the initiative is designed to harness daytime solar energy, storing it for use during peak evening hours to reduce dependency on costly peak-grid electricity. The total capital expenditure for the project is projected to be approximately PkR3.2 billion across both plants. As of June 2026, FCCL reported cash and short-term investments amounting to PkR5.6 billion, indicating sufficient financial resources for the project.
