Islamabad: In a significant restructuring effort, the federal government has decided to transfer all ongoing development projects under the now-dissolved Public Works Department (PWD) to respective provincial governments. This move is designed to streamline project management and enhance local oversight.
According to Zameen.Com, the federal Minister overseeing the transition has instructed all provinces to provide the names of the ministries that will assume responsibility for these projects within a week. For the capital, ongoing PWD projects are set to be transferred to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and other pertinent ministries. Minister Ahsan Iqbal stressed that these projects will continue under new management, emphasizing that this is a reassignment, not a cancellation. He praised Balochistan for its swift completion of the transfer process and encouraged other provinces to finalize their details promptly.
To facilitate the transfer process, each district’s Deputy Commissioners will act as focal points, collaborating with the PWD and relevant departments to finalize agreements within four to five days. This approach aims to ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted progress on critical infrastructure projects.
