Islamabad: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain today presided over an award meeting regarding the SME Development Strategy organized by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) in the light of the instructions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Federal Secretary Industry and Production Saif Anjum was also present at the meeting. The management team of SMEDA, led by its Chief Executive Officer Mr. Aman Rana, participated in the meeting, where Mr. Rana provided a detailed briefing on the strategy.
According to Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority, the strategy aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision and aims to facilitate SMEs by providing easy and abundant financing, export marketing, technology upgradation, subcontracting, and women entrepreneurship. Additionally, SMEDA is focused on ensuring the implementation of the SME Policy 2021 action plan. Provincial working groups have been activated, and a regional SME strategy has been developed for the governments of Sindh and Balochistan in collaboration with the International Trade Centre (ITC). SMEDA expresses readiness to extend similar support to other provinces.
The government prioritizes the swift and practical development of SMEs to address poverty and unemployment challenges. The Federal Ministry of Industry and Production is executing the Prime Minister’s vision, with SMEDA concentrating on SME development under the Ministry’s leadership. SMEDA is committed to implementing the National SME Policy’s approved action plan and formulating a comprehensive nationwide strategy for SME development.
