Karachi: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO), Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah, has pledged rapid resolution of grievances for Karachi’s industrialists, promising to deliver justice within four to six weeks during a meeting with the Site Association of Industry Karachi.
According to S.I.T.E Association of Industry , Dr. Jah stated the commitment to expedite action on taxpayer complaints and ensure the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) implements the FTO’s decisions effectively. This announcement was made in a gathering that included significant figures such as Muhammad Kamran Arabi, President of the Site Association, and other key industry representatives.
The meeting addressed widespread concerns over misuse of power by tax officials and the impact on taxpayer confidence. Discussions highlighted issues such as delays in tax refunds and the need for less human intervention in tax matters to prevent malpractices. The FTO also confirmed the resolution of over 8,000 complaints last year, with a substantial amount of refunds processed through these efforts.
Furthermore, the FTO announced the appointment of an advisor from the Site Association to foster closer cooperation and ensure that industrial sector grievances are promptly addressed, enhancing trust and efficiency between the FBR and the taxpayer community.
