FPCCI Advocates for Enhanced Trade Ties with ASEAN Nations

Karachi: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) has called for intensified trade relations and investment between Pakistan and ASEAN countries. Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of FPCCI, highlighted the necessity for proactive engagement to enhance commercial ties, technology cooperation, and business-to-business linkages during the ASEAN Day 2026 commemoration held at Federation House, Karachi.

According to Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Sheikh underscored ASEAN's growing economic importance, which presents significant opportunities for Pakistani exporters and investors. He advocated for strengthening direct interactions between the private sectors of Pakistan and ASEAN through business delegations, exhibitions, and B2B meetings.

Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice President of FPCCI, pointed out the considerable untapped potential in economic relations between Pakistan and ASEAN. He introduced FPCCI's initiative to establish the Pakistan-ASEAN Business Council, aimed at promoting B2B cooperation, trade delegations, and joint ventures. He identified sectors such as textiles, IT, food processing, agriculture, and the blue economy as promising areas for collaboration.

Mr. Hanif Gohar, former Senior Vice President of FPCCI, emphasized the need to transform cordial diplomatic relations with ASEAN into stronger commercial partnerships. He advocated for increased participation of Pakistani companies in ASEAN exhibitions and regular interaction between chambers and trade associations.

The event saw participation from Consul Generals and diplomats of ASEAN Member States, as well as representatives from international trade and investment promotion organizations such as JETRO and KOTRA. ASEAN diplomatic representatives encouraged Pakistani businesses to explore greater trade and investment cooperation.

Presentations by trade and investment experts highlighted specific market opportunities for Pakistani businesses in ASEAN countries. The event concluded with a consensus on the need for sustained business-to-business engagement and stronger institutional cooperation to leverage the longstanding Pakistan-ASEAN relationship for economic growth.

FPCCI reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate closely with ASEAN diplomatic missions, business organizations, and relevant stakeholders to build a stronger and mutually beneficial economic partnership.
