Karachi: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has called for enhanced economic cooperation and improved banking connectivity among the member states of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation. Atif Ikram Sheikh, the President of FPCCI, highlighted the significant economic potential within the D-8 region and emphasized that closer ties could lead to regional prosperity, expanded trade, and sustainable growth.

According to Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, these remarks were made following a meeting between Quratul Ain, Vice President of FPCCI, and H.E. Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, Secretary General of the D-8 Organization, at the D-8 Secretariat in Istanbul. The discussions focused on strengthening Pakistan's engagement with D-8 member countries and exploring new avenues for trade, investment, and economic cooperation. A particular focus was placed on enhancing banking connectivity to facilitate smoother financial transactions and promote business collaboration within the region.

Quratul Ain reaffirmed FPCCI's dedication to fostering stronger economic partnerships with D-8 countries, emphasizing the importance of institutional interaction between FPCCI, the D-8 Secretariat, and national chambers of commerce. Ambassador Sohail Mahmood commended FPCCI's efforts in promoting regional cooperation and expressed the D-8 Secretariat's commitment to working with the private sector towards greater economic integration.

FPCCI aims to play a pivotal role in economic diplomacy and trade expansion with D-8 nations through ongoing engagement with the D-8 Secretariat. An Interactive Session of FPCCI's National Committee on D-8 CCI is planned for July 23, 2026, at Federation House, Karachi, involving diplomats, business representatives, and committee members to discuss strategies for enhancing trade, investment, and private-sector collaboration among D-8 countries.
