Karachi: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) hosted a significant event on Thursday, featuring Mr. Javed Alam Odho, Inspector General of Sindh Police, as the chief guest. The gathering, held at the FPCCI Head Office, was organized to celebrate Independence Day and acknowledge the sacrifices of police officers who have ensured the security of the nation.

According to Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the event brought together prominent businessmen, industrialists, and trade leaders. Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of FPCCI, opened the meeting with a tribute to the Police Shuhada, emphasizing their role in maintaining peace and economic stability. He highlighted that the business community supports the families of the fallen officers, recognizing their contributions to a safer Sindh.

Mr. Sheikh also presented data indicating an 11.77% decrease in street crime and major offenses in Karachi for the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. Murders fell by 17.3%, and vehicle snatching decreased by 24.3%, showcasing improved security trends.

Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice President of FPCCI, stressed the importance of collaboration between the commercial sector and law enforcement, while Mr. Asif Sakhi, Vice President of FPCCI, called for enhanced cooperation to boost investor confidence. Mr. Muhammad Ikram Rajput, Convener of the FPCCI Sindh Committee on Law & Order, discussed regional security and industrial safety, praising police sacrifices.

Inspector General Mr. Javed Alam Odho, in his keynote address, acknowledged the FPCCI's support and highlighted the reduction in crime across Sindh, attributing success to intelligence-led policing. He reaffirmed the Sindh Police's dedication to sustaining these trends to ensure safety and support commercial growth.
