Ghandhara Automobiles and Industries Discuss FY26 Performance and Future Plans

Karachi: Ghandhara Automobiles Limited (GAL) and Ghandhara Industries Limited (GHNI) held corporate briefing sessions today to discuss their financial performance for the fiscal year 2026 and outline future plans. The companies highlighted key achievements and challenges while setting their sights on strategic developments and market expansion.

According to JS Global, Ghandhara Automobiles reported that the JAC T9 Hunter was the primary revenue driver, contributing approximately Rs12 billion of the total standalone revenue of Rs29 billion in FY26. Despite this, commercial vehicles had a greater impact on the bottom line due to the absorption of the NEV adoption levy on the T9 Hunter. The company also reported significant revenue from Dongfeng's heavy-duty vehicles, amounting to roughly Rs17.8 billion from 1,100 truck sales, while light commercial vehicles contributed Rs1.3 billion.

Management at GAL stated that Dongfeng holds a 27% market share in the heavy commercial vehicle segment, with JAC and DFAC jointly holding 21% in the light commercial vehicle segment. New product launches, including the JAC 1020 LCV, have supported sales growth, and further model introductions in the heavy commercial and electric vehicle segments are anticipated pending the finalization of a new auto policy. Challenges such as supply chain disruptions and increased freight costs were cited as reasons for a contraction in gross margins in the fourth quarter of FY26.

Ghandhara Industries Limited aims to achieve sales volumes of over 6,000 units in FY27, with expectations that the D-Max will account for 10% of revenue. The company plans to sell 300-400 Zhongtong units during the year. Investments in the Zhongtong assembly line, including a solar power system, totaled Rs2-3 billion and are projected to yield cost savings. The company offers Zhongtong buses at competitive prices, with new D-Max variants and features like ADAS slated for introduction in the coming months.

Furthermore, GHNI has secured exclusive distribution rights for UD Trucks in Pakistan. Initially, these will be imported as completely built units, with potential local assembly contingent on feasibility. Management anticipates that UD Trucks will be positioned at a premium compared to Chinese and Isuzu models.
