Karachi: Google for Startups today unveiled the AI Academy, a new initiative aimed at bolstering artificial intelligence (AI) startups in Pakistan and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This program is set to nurture over 20 startups that specialize in AI technologies, enhancing APAC's position as a leading hub for AI innovation and facilitating cross-border collaborations.
According to Google, the AI Academy is structured to accelerate the pathway of AI startups to market through comprehensive support systems including access to Google’s AI experts, substantial Google Cloud credits, and opportunities for community engagement. Startups selected for the program will benefit from up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits and tailored mentorship, enabling them to develop proofs of concept and product roadmaps quickly.
The initiative is expected to enhance the regional AI landscape significantly by promoting knowledge exchange and expediting the development of innovative AI solutions. Farhan S. Qureshi, Google Pakistan’s country director, emphasized that the AI Academy underscores Google’s commitment to fostering AI growth across APAC, particularly noting the strategic importance of Pakistan as a burgeoning market for AI technologies.
