Islamabad: The Ministry of Housing and Works is set to revise the regulations governing the allocation of government accommodation to federal employees, aiming to create a more equitable system.
According to Zameen.Com, the proposed changes to the Allocation Rules, 2002, are currently in the final stages of review and expected to be implemented soon. One of the significant amendments involves the removal of Rule 20 from the Government House Allotment rules, which currently permits retired federal employees to transfer their government-provided housing to their employed offspring. This rule has faced criticism from employees on the waiting list who argue that it unfairly favors family connections over a system based on seniority and need.
