Gul Plaza Fire Incident Exposes Safety Concerns in Karachi

KARACHI: The fire at Gul Plaza, a prominent shopping center on Karachi's M.A. Jinnah Road, has resulted in significant financial and human losses, drawing attention to recurring safety issues. The blaze led to the deaths of six people, including a firefighter, and injured two dozen others. Zubair Tufail, President of the United Business Group (UBG), has urged immediate financial assistance for affected traders and insisted on the importance of addressing safety lapses.

According to United Business Group, Tufail stressed that the government's role is crucial in rehabilitating those whose businesses were destroyed. He highlighted the need for strict enforcement of fire safety regulations and called for a thorough review of safety measures in commercial establishments to safeguard lives and property.

Tufail stated that comprehensive efforts are necessary to protect citizens and provide substantial support to those impacted by the fire. He urged both provincial and federal authorities to enhance medical facilities for the injured and promptly assist affected shopkeepers, enabling them to restore their businesses ahead of Eid. Tufail also extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for the swift recovery of those injured.
