Huawei Hosts Africa 5G Summit at Africacom in Cape Town

Cape Town, Huawei held the Africa 5G Summit, the 6th Southern Africa MBB VIP Salon, at Africacom in Cape Town, South Africa. The summit, regarded as the largest event in Africa’s mobile broadband industry, brought together industry leaders from regional governments, industry organizations, operators, and Huawei to discuss 5G development strategies and share industry experiences.

According to Huawei, the theme of this year's summit was "5G Lights Up Africa Together Towards Business Success." The focus was on how operators in Southern Africa can build value-added 5G networks, improve network experiences, accelerate FWA industry development, and achieve business success with 5G. Richard Liu, President of Huawei’s Global Carrier Marketing & Solution Sales Dept., delivered the keynote speech, emphasizing the need for localized innovation in Africa and the collective effort to build a digital Africa. He highlighted the transformative potential of 5G networks in the ICT industry and society, and outlined strategies for achieving 5G prosperity in Africa through inclusive innovations, ecosystem development, and network synergy.

The summit also featured presentations from representatives of ICASA, GSMA Intelligence, MTN South Africa, MTN Nigeria, Zain Saudi Arabia, and Safaricom, who shared their insights on 5G network technologies and development strategies. Additionally, a white paper titled "5G FWA in Africa, Emerging Trends and Opportunities" was released at the summit, underscoring the collaborative efforts to promote 5G FWA services in Africa to meet the needs of families and enterprises.
