Hub Power Company Posts 152% Increase in Quarterly Profit Amid Revenue Growth

Karachi: Hub Power Company Ltd (HUBC) announced its financial results for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2026, reporting a notable 152% year-over-year increase in net profit after tax (NPAT), reaching 10.6 billion Pakistani Rupees (PkR), or PkR8.19 per share. Despite this substantial growth, the figures fell below market expectations due to a lower-than-anticipated share of profit from its associates. The company declared a quarterly cash payout of PkR5.0 per share, bringing the total payout for the first half of the fiscal year to PkR10.0 per share, doubling from the previous year.

According to AKD Securities Limited, HUBC's consolidated revenue for the quarter was PkR16.7 billion, marking an 8% increase from PkR15.5 billion in the same period last year. The company achieved a gross margin of 46%, compared to 41% in the corresponding period of the previous year. The significant rise in the company's bottom line is attributed to the absence of impairment losses, following amendments to the power purchase agreement (PPA), with a write-off of PkR2.6 billion in December 2024.
