IBA Karachi, Bank Alfalah, and Stanford Life Design Lab Launch Design Thinking Program

Karachi: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi, in partnership with Bank Alfalah and Stanford Life Design Lab, has launched a new Design Thinking program aimed at fostering innovation and strategic problem-solving among management professionals and senior executives in Pakistan.

According to Bank Alfalah announcement issued on 23 August 2024, the initiative was officially introduced during a curtain-raiser event at the Bank Alfalah Islamic Branch in Sky Tower, marking a significant collaboration among notable educational and financial institutions. The program is designed to imbue participants with the methodologies of Design Thinking, a practice known for enhancing organizational performance through a deep understanding of user needs, creative solution generation, and effective prototype development.

Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director of IBA Karachi, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, noting that the program will prepare students and business professionals to be leaders and innovators in their respective fields. “This initiative will not only benefit our graduates but also the broader business community in Pakistan,” said Dr. Zaidi.

Atif Bajwa, President and CEO of Bank Alfalah, highlighted the strategic importance of the program, stating, “Our partnership with IBA and Stanford Life Design Lab is a testament to our commitment to driving innovation and creating value for our customers. By integrating Design Thinking into our leadership training, we are setting a new standard for excellence in the banking sector.”

Dr. Muhammad Imran, Group Head of Islamic Banking at Bank Alfalah, also emphasized the significance of Design Thinking in banking, particularly for developing customer-centric financial products and services. “Design Thinking enables us to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations by creating more tailored and innovative financial solutions,” he remarked.
