Inspector General of Police Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon visit the OICCI

Karachi, November 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Inspector General of Police Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, along with his team visited Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) on November 24, 2022, to have an interactive session with the members. Ahmed Zahid Zaheer, Managing Committee Member and Chairman security subcommittee of OICCI and M. Abdul Aleem, CE/Secretary General welcomed the guests.

The CE/Secretary General gave a brief presentation about the profile of OICCI and contribution of its members to the Pakistan economy and shared the results of OICCI Security Survey 2022 along with some important concerns and issues of members. The presentation included an overview of the overall security environment, trend of serious crimes and street crimes, perception of employees in respect of their personal security in daily commute. The results pointed out that law and order situation of Sindh, especially Karachi has deteriorated compared to last year survey.

IGP Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon thanked OICCI for the invitation, addressed the concerns raised by members and ensured full cooperation/ support of Police to the OICCI. He said Sindh police is moving forward under a strategy and plan of action utilizing modern techniques to control street crimes. IGP appreciated the feedback received from members and urged the members to come forward to highlight the good work of police, to improve the perception and hoped that this will contribute to improve the negative general perception of public about the Police.

During the question-and-answer session OICCI members informed the IG Police of some of their issues and he ensured to take appropriate measures. M Abdul Aleem requested Ghulam Nabi Memon to appoint a senior level police officer to liaise with OICCI so that law and order issues can be promptly brought to the notice of Police and rapid action can be taken to address such issues. IG Police assigned a senior level Police officer as focal person to the OICCI.

At the conclusion of the session, Ahmad Zahid Zaheer appreciated the police services and offered IGP full cooperation and support of OICCI and its members. He also advised participants of the session to pre-inform relevant Police station about expected visit of their foreign visitors to receive the Police support during their visit to Pakistan.
