KARACHI: In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, Mian Zahid Hussain, President of Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF) and All Karachi Industrial Alliance (AKIA), announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran, marking a pivotal moment in the Middle East peace process. The agreement, facilitated by Pakistan, has been lauded for easing tensions and offering the global economy a respite from potential crisis.

According to Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum, the MoU is a testament to Pakistan's mediatory efforts, attributed to the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The recent escalation had significantly impacted the global economy, with oil prices soaring to $120 per barrel due to disruptions in oil supplies and the closure of maritime routes, notably the Strait of Hormuz. The agreement aims to restore stability by facilitating a ceasefire and reopening vital trade routes.

Mian Zahid Hussain highlighted the key roles played by Pakistan's civil and military leadership, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in securing the agreement. The "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding" is a recognition of Pakistan's strategic efforts to prevent conflict and promote regional stability.
